Six Beds and a Roof

Well, I did it anyway. I woke up, sold my bed, and bought a cheaper one again. This simray could really come in handy.
Shall we try that again?
Holy Crap! That’s a $3,800 bed! As much as I really want to keep this, that’s more money than I can pass up.
This damn thing’s a money maker.
Okay, what the heck? After this crazy yellow thing, I got a nice little grey bed. C’mon, I can do better…
Whoa whoa… what …
Crap! What the heck happened? I don’t have a fire extinguisher! I mean, I can’t burn the house down, because … well, you know. Hang on…
Right! Freeze ray! Huh. Okay, so fire’s out. I put in a call to the insurance company, letting them know that the bed just “caught fire”. They claimed that this particular model didn’t have a history of bursting into flames, but did agree to pay me a hundred or so in compensation.
I’m telling you; a money maker!
Okay… one last time.
You know… that’s okay. It’s not on fire. How can I sleep if my bed is burning? That’ll do for now.
It was a fairly routine shift at work, although Meagan spent literally all day sitting on the computer. Looking for a new job, I hope. Meanwhile *some* of us actually researched and experimented.
Some of us did our jobs, Meagan.
It was a great day. Returning home, I realised that I now had enough money after my bed shenanigans to actually build some walls and a roof! So here it is, my first actual home. Walls and lights and floors and everything.
Yeah, it’s tiny and cheap, and only has one door so when I set fire to something I might be in serious trouble, but it’s home.
There was even enough to buy some cheap-as-dirt cabinets and appliances. No table yet, but the stools at the counter will do for now. And a smoke detector. Because I know me.
It may be stark, but it’s tiny. Gotta love that new brick smell, too.
The view down the hall, from my fabulous dining area. I finally have somewhere to put the poster I’d received from work.
I finally have walls around my washr… I finally have a washroom! Dry TP that hasn’t absorbed the dew all night!
It’s going to feel weird sleeping in a room again, without the stars to watch as I drift off. I’ll have to keep my windows open all night, for a while at least.
But I still can’t afford things like a computer or a bookshelf. Or any books to put on a shelf. Luckily, I know a local place with free Internet and … books strewn all over the floor. The place was empty on a Monday night, but that let me get some gaming in, in peace.
I got a few hours of quiet reading in as well, followed by a half hour or so of just picking up all the fricken’ books people left lying around. I didn’t get them all, but some. I was getting tired and angrier every time I picked up another. I gave up and went home.

That’s a really gorgeous starter home! Much nicer than what my Sims usually started with in legacies.
Thanks! I think it gets better in a couple of days, I wasn’t happy with the brick pattern…
